Wireless sales brochure distribution system
- Product
-
The challenge here was to create a way to distribute sales literature for a company on a trade show floor
without having the sales personnel carrying around reams of paper. Instead, the salespeople would carry
a Windows CE device with an Ardis wireless WAN PCMCIA card. When a potential customer expressed interest
in receiving sales literature, the salesperson would take down the potential customer's contact information,
including either an email address or a fax number. This information would be wirelessly transmitted back to
a corporate server, along with the list of requested documents. These documents would then be automatically
emailed or faxed to the potential customer, before the conversation had even ended. When the salesperson returned from the trade show, the
newly gathered contact information would already be entered into a contact database.
- What we provided
-
We designed, developed, tested and deployed both the client devices and the server system. We provided
automated installation tools for new Windows CE devices and a document management system for the back end
server. Finally, we provided a pre-trade show synchronization system to ensure the CE devices had the names
and descriptions of the currently installed sales literature.
This system proved quite a boon to the sales department, enabling them to send sales literature to people
who inquired about the wireless WAN card. It seems that wirelessly browsing email in an airport, using
MobileChoice Messenger tended to attract
some interest.
